Blessed be they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. – Matthew 5:5

Blessed – the words means more than ‘happy’, because happiness is an emotion more often dependant on outward circumstances. ‘Blessed’ here refers to the ultimate well-being and distinctive spiritual joy of those who share in salvation of the Kingdom of God. Meek are those who humbly acknowledge their dependence on the goodness and grace of God.

The verse definitely says that when we are meek we can inherit the earth. Heaven is not the only inheritance of the Saints. The earth is a treasure of God which can be inherited by faith and humility. To be meek is to be extremely humble and being totally devoted and obedient to God our Father without any shadow.

Moses was the meek amongst the people of his time, yet missed the Promised Land out of his anger and disobedience. Instead of speaking to the rock he was angry with the Israelites and hit the rock twice (Numbers 20:8-12). Even though water came out of the rock God was angry with Moses because the rock that followed them was Jesus Christ and Christ must die once (1 Corinthians 10:4). So Moses missed the Promised Land though God favoured him by showing him the Promised Land afar off before he died. We should be meek like Jesus, to inherit the earth. The Promised Land is for every believer and our duty is to follow the values system in our life from Mathew chapter 5 and inherit the blessings.

     God bless you.
