Our god is not only the creator but one who gives us fruitful season, property, place, blessing. In Zechariah, chapter 10, we find how God’s people should pray and trust in him. When we pray for the rain in spring time he gives us the spring rain so essential to riper the harvest.  Rain gives life and fertility to the land.  Latter rain or spring rain is like the work of Holy Spirit in New Testament. It began at Pentecost. Then the harvest of souls began. We can look for a continued latter rain – the outpouring of the Holy Spirit until the end of this age. Former rain is the work of the Holy Spirit in Old Testament times. It was just a time of preparation and planting.

When we pray for the Holy Spirit definitely we will be filled and be a blessing to all. In Acts, chapter 2, we find all apostles and many others nearly 120 were together in one place. They were in one accord with one Spirit. They were praising God and all felt the divine presence. Suddenly a wind came from heaven and filled the whole house.  They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire and came to rest on them. They all were talking in ‘tongues ’. Their spirits were completely under the control of the Holy Spirit and their words were his words. The spirit enabled them to speak in languages they had not previously learned. God filled them with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In contrast to the former days of the old (Old Testament) covenant the age of Messianic fulfillment has arrived.
