Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Mathew 3:2).
The basic meaning of repentance is to turn around. It is a turning from
evil ways and a turning to Christ and through Him to God. (John 14:16). The
decision to turn from sin and to salvation in Christ involves accepting Christ
not only as Saviour from the penalty of sin, but also as Lord of one`s life.
Repentance is made possible by the grace given to us. Christ came to
this world as a Saviour to give repentance and forgiveness of sins. Also we
find this basic message of repentance even in the preaching of the Old
Testament Prophets and Psalms.
In Luke chapter 13 we find Jesus call to repentance. God gives everyone
sufficient opportunity to repent. He will not tolerate sin and immorality
forever. A time will come when God`s grace and mercy will be withdrawn and the
unrepentant be punished without mercy.
Now we are in the end of the year and greatly preparing for a New Year,
so once again let us repent, confess the sins and be baptized by the Holy
Spirit. God bless you.
