“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

                                                                                                                -Jeremiah 1:5

God knows all men before their conception and birth. But he knows us, and predestinates unto eternal life. It is the workmanship of God. He thought about us and planned for us. When we feel discouraged or inadequate, we have to remember that God always has a thought for us which is valuable and that He has a purpose in mind for us.

Jeremiah was “appointed” by God as prophet to the nations. In the same way God has a purpose for each one of us, but some people are appointed by God for specific kinds of work Samson (Judges 13:3-5) David (1 Sam 16:12,13) John the Baptist (1 Luke 1:13-17) Paul (Gal 1:15,16) were also called to do particular jobs for God. Whatever work we do should be done for the glory of God (Philippians 1:11)

When God gives us a specific task we have to accept it cheerfully and do it with diligence. He has chosen us to obey, love and serve God. He is setting us apart and also ordained us to go and prophesy whatever he commands. It is also very amazing that God has been working before we were born to prepare us to be a chosen vessel like Jeremiah.

He never made anyone to fill the place where we are called to do things. This is the wonder of the way how each one of us is unique to fulfill the purpose. He alone will move and work in our lives for His Glory.

In the first part of the verse we see that it applies for all, but the latter part is specifically for Jeremiah the prophet. Also the second part is for all God’s people. He is our sovereign God and we must learn to trust Him and to do His will. Every one of us has a unique call for which we are “set apart”. We have to prayerfully pursue to serve God and others.

Regardless of personal cost, like Jeremiah we must be courageous, faithful to proclaim the word of God. Let us commit ourselves to be successful in fulfilling God’s Purpose.

                                                God bless you all.
