In Hannah`s prayer (1 Samuel 2:1-10) we find praise and thanksgiving to
God. God has raised up her horn to celebrate His ways. This song of praise is
similar to the song of Mary. (Luke 1:46-55). The supreme source of Hannah`s joy
is not in the child but in God who answered her prayer. Her horn is lifted by
God, and she is delivered from disgrace to a position of honour and strength.
Hannah shows that God often works contrary to natural expectations and
brings about surprising reversals. The proud and arrogant speech of Peninah
comes to an end.
God will protect the people who are faithful and the wicked will be
silenced in darkness. Those who oppose the Lord will be shattered and the Lord
will judge, the ends of earth.
These prophetical words help us to celebrate the ways of God. Let us
sing praises with Hannah, Mary, Deborah, and David.
There is no one to be exalted except our God.
